Eliercer Vazquez, age 60, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 2, after police were dispatched to the home for a dispute, said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management.

When police arrived on the scene, they found the 46-year-old victim with lacerations to his head from cuts from a knife, Appleby said.

Vazquez allegedly attacked the victim as a result of a dispute over the theft of diamonds.

The victim was treated at the scene by medics for his injuries. He was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center and is expected to survive, Appleby said.

Vazquez was taken into custody and charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

During court, the judge ordered Vazquez held on a $150,000 bond and that he undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

The victim later told police that he and Vazquez were in the kitchen when Vazquez accused him of stealing the diamonds.

The two then began to fight and Vazquez allegedly grabbed a large kitchen knife and stabbed the victim.

The victim denied having any diamonds.
